This campground is located about 20 minutes southwest of Fort Worth. It is an Army Corp of Engineers park located on Benbrook Lake.

I previously wrote about this park in a blog post from 2013. You can read that HERE.

I love this park. The campsites are very spacious. The views are wonderful. It’s quiet and peaceful. It’s close to shopping.

This is an electric and water only park. There are two dump stations located in the park, but not at the site. There is a limit of 14 days per stay, but if it’s the off season, you can usually stay a few days longer.

The park is frequented by bicycle riders, so there are abundant trails and roadways for biking. Deer are everywhere too. So be careful when driving through the park, especially around dawn or dusk, when both are out in abundance.

The one con for this park is that is closes at night. They shut and lock a gate. There is a spike strip exit only lane for emergencies. But re-entry to the park after 10pm cannot be done. There is a parking area outside the gate where you can leave your car and walk to your campsite. Given the size of the park, this could be a really long walk. The other option is to leave one car inside the gate. Leave in a second car, then when you come back switch vehicles and drive to your campsite, then go get the other car in the morning. Otherwise, make sure you’re back by 10pm. If you’re just camping for a weekend this isn’t a big deal. But when you’re full time in the RV, it’s is difficult to be back by 10pm if you have any sort of social life.

I like this park a lot. We camp here at least once a year, in the fall, with my parents setting up their 5th wheel next door. I hope to keep this tradition up for many years to come.
