This campground is located about 20 minutes west of Fort Worth. We originally picked this park to start our full time RV living because it was not too far from where our house was located.

The campground is large, and almost all of the sites were pull through. The park is divided up into sections. One is more family friendly, one is gravel and one is paved. All are full hookup. We were given our choice when we checked in.

We picked a spot in the paved section, way in the back next to the property line. We had a small grass yard, picnic table and a large tree for shade. This is rare in this park, as most of the trees are small, and most of the sites do not get much, if any shade. Right across from us was a large commercial building, on the next property. Turns out this building provided a lot of shade during the blazing Texas afternoon sun.

The only negative about this particular spot was the mosquitos. Since we were next to the property line, a lot of tall weeds were growing on the other side of the fence. Tall weeds are the perfect place for mosquitos. I don’t believe Cowtown could have done much to fix this issue, as the weeds were not on their property, but the adjacent property. Anyhow, I am a mosquito magnet, and they are drawn to me. This was very uncomfortable and after a few weeks, we requested a new site. Cowtown was very accommodating, and we picked a new spot much further up towards the front. Less shade, and not as close to the property line, and no mosquitos!

The amenities at the park were what you would expect from a full service RV park.

  • We used the provided mail box to receive mail, and the system worked fine for our needs.
  • The laundry facilities were also acceptable, but busy. There were times it was just plain difficult to find an empty washer or dryer. The equipment was well maintained and there were very few times an out of order sign was hanging on a machine.
  • We used the public showers a couple of times when we had a leak in our RV. They were just fine as well. The water was hot and the pressure was good, and the room was clean.

Other amenities such as the pool, community space, dog walks, etc. we did not use.

There is a small store in the office, with a few basic items. Just down the road a mile or so is a Brookshire’s Grocery store that turned out to be Kathy’s favorite grocery store of all time. A couple miles further up the road is a Walmart Supercenter.  So all your shopping needs were close and convenient.

Over all, my opinion of this park is favorable. It was close to Fort Worth, close to shopping and close to my work. The sites are large, but still packed in close side by side like most other parks. The lack of mature trees makes this park blistering hot in the summer, but fine other times of the year.
