What a great little find! Loyd Park is a City owned park. I think this may be the first park of its kind we have come across.

The park is spacious. My parents were in the spot right next to us and that was 100 feet away! We had large, mature trees providing a lot of shade. The RV space was asphalt and double wide. It not only allowed us to have the RV on pavement, but there was plenty of room beside the RV to setup the outdoor kitchen and living space on the pad too. This made for some great football watching and grilling outside. We even hosted an outdoor birthday event for a couple of family members one weekend.

There is a small camp store located near the entrance. There are hiking trails, pavilions, boat ramps, and kid play parks available for use. The entrance is gate is staffed 7×24 and is always open. There is a by-pass lane for quick entry into the park if you’re already registered. This makes for quick access even when the line starts to grow on Friday evenings for all the weekenders.

The spaces we used were back end. I didn’t see many pull through sites. They were also water and electric only, but full hookup sites were available, albeit those were a lot closer together and not as spacious as the water/electric only sites. The park has over 250 camp sites.

The park is quiet and peaceful. For such a large park, it was very easy to navigate and get around.

I like the park, but with my daily commute to work, driving I-20 and SH-360 during rush hour was not much fun. It increased my drive time to about 50 minutes each way. Reasonable, but still, traffic sucks and I prefer not to subject myself to it unnecessarily.

We will probably stay here again in the future, but only about 2 weeks at a time due to the commute traffic.
